Shadow of the Colossus Artrade

Another artrade done and dusted! When I talked to my mate Tarshen about what he wanted to draw, I knew it would be perfect as a portfolio piece. The added bonus of getting a batch of games on the Steam Summer Sale gifted as payment only added fuel to the fire.

I began with some reference gathering, looking for something that could evoke the nostalgia in a Shadow of the Colossus fan while still being true to my art style and values. The concepts were to get different angles and play around with different environments, eventually we settled on the Portrait orientation.

Setting up my colour palate early was good idea, because I kinda got carried away as I worked, but realized towards the end that the original colour palette was more striking, so I referred back to it for the final touchups.
